'Fitting the Pieces Together' - Special Forum

The Inner East PCP and Inner East Melbourne Medicare Local invites you to attend the 'Fitting the Pieces Together' Forum, which will be held 9.30-12.30 on Thursday 24 November at Box Hill Town Hall.  The forum will discuss the challenges, risks and opportunities of working together in this new primary health care environment. It will consist of two presentations and facilitated workshop. The forum aims to provide you with:

  • an update on the strategic directions of the Inner East PCP and the Inner East Melbourne Medicare Local, including priority areas and actions for the next 12 months
  • the opportunity to work together to identify challenges, risks, and further work and planning needed to ensure ongoing successful collaborations.

Who should attend?
This forum is for all service providers, managers, program coordinators, project workers and practitioners working in partnership with Inner East PCP.

Funding a new concept - Stroke Survivor Consumer Consultant

The concept of using a Stroke Survivor as a Consumer Consultant as a link between the acute and community sectors has been developed by the Stroke Survivors' Initiative.  The Inner East CHS is willing to auspice the Consumer Consultant but an additional $20,000 is needed for a pilot.  Funding suggestions to christopher.foley-jones@iepcp.org.au please.

Closing the Gap Aboriginal Health Workforce - 2011-12 Training Grants Program

Please find below the details for the 2011-12 Closing the Gap Training Grant Program to assist health services to increase their capacity to support and provide training opportunities for their Aboriginal workforce.

Training grants for 2011-12 are available for:

  • Management and leadership training  - up to $20,000 per organisation
  • Nursing training - up to $15,000 per trainee
  • Allied Health Assistance - up to $15,000 per trainee
  • Dental Assistance - up to $15,000 per trainee

How can clinical information sharing be improved?

Flinders University is currently undertaking research to investigate how clinical information sharing operates as part of the care planning process.  We are interested in finding out how you share information as part of your practice and in hearing your thoughts about potential improvements. Engage! 2012-2014 grant guidelines

The aim of the 2012-2014 Engage! Program is to provide early support and engage with young people 12-25 years to actively participate in an benefit from civic, economic and social activities in their community.

Engage! offers funding between $30,000 to $50,000 per annum, over three years.  Organisations applying for Engage! Funding will be required to outline other contributions to the program including financial contributions, in-kind etc.

Welcome Claire Ferrier - New Problem Gambling Project Officer

Claire Ferrier brings to the IEPCP experience in designing, implementing and evaluating health promotion programs around social inclusion, disability and adolescent women's violence prevention. She has a passion for community wellbeing and harm minimisation for problem gambling, especially within the EMR and looks forward to enhancing work already in place.

And yet another new Project Worker!

Monica Mercieca is carrying out an IEPCP workforce planning and systems change project to support people with chronic and complex conditions.  She has worked in aged care, falls prevention and research at Melbourne and Monash Universities. Monica holds a Masters in Public Health, Post Graduate degree in Occupational Therapy.

E-referral Workshop

An e-referral workshop was to be held on 9 November. However, that date has become uncertain. It will probably be held in December and should cover, amongst other things, enhancements to the e-referral system, an Agony Aunt section, triumphs and hopefully a demonstration of the e-care planning module. 

Hoarding workshop/forum

A forum/workshop on Monday 21 November 9.30-12,30 will examine the phenomenon of hoarding, how to detect it and how to manage hoarding behaviour. Speakers/presenters will be Julie Harris of the MFB and Dr. Chris Mogan, an expert in the field. Details later...
